Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)

Plews & Edelmann believes in the importance of social responsibility in its business practices and the part it plays in the success of our business.

At Plews & Edelmann, CSR is not only a corporate business requirement, but part of our culture. Some examples of our social responsibility are demonstrated below.

Plews & Edelmann has

  • Maintained ISO 9001:2015 again in 2020 and ISO 14001 since 2004.

  • Developed a Supplier Rating Program to measure and grade supplier performance, to include safety and environmental programs and compliance. This program features a Supplier Strategic Award program to incentify suppliers to successfully complete periodic Quality Management System (QMS) and Environmental Management (EMS) audits. In 2008, Plews & Edelmann added ratings and criteria for a Human Rights Survey.

  • Switched from standard petroleum based lubricants in their Screw Machines to new biobased lubricants.  Not only will this change be better for the environment, but the reduction in friction with the biobased oil will also extend the life of the cutting tools.

  • Held its 12th annual Health Fair in 2019 where more than 50 associates took advantage of the following:
        • Cholesterol Screening (Blood Drawn)
        • Blood Pressure Screening
        • Height/Weight Factors
        • Body Fat Measurement
        • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Counseling
        • YMCA Program Information and Sign-up for Discount Membership

  • Annually participates in the United Way Drive for Lee County, Illinois and has been recognized for their efforts with the United Way Corporate Spirit Award.

  • Help The Kids Wish Network to grant a young boy with cystic fibrosis, Logan Clevenger, his dream to meet skateboarding star, Ryan Sheckler. Special bake sales were held for two weeks to raise money for the cause.  Logan received his wish and traveled to Portland, Oregon to attend a professional Action Sports Tour event where Ryan Scheckler was starring. Logan got to meet his hero and have a picture taken (Logan at right).

  • Reduced the amount of electrical energy used for lighting at the Dixon, Illinois facility by exploring energy saving fixtures, bulbs, and motion activated switches in offices. These efforts have been very successful for the last four years.
